The Woods are a busy, multigenerational household balancing work, school, sports, caregiving, allergies, meal prep, and family dinners.

Julia, 38, manages the household and most of the family’s food planning and prep. She has peanut and gluten allergies and helps care for her father-in-law, George, 64, who lives with the family and needs his food cut into small, manageable bites because of swallowing and choking concerns.

Her husband, James, 40, is an engineer who works outside the home and is lactose intolerant. Their son Dylan, 14, is a high-school freshman, football player, gamer, and also lactose intolerant. Their youngest, Devin, 8, is gluten-sensitive and brings a peanut-free lunch to elementary school each day.

Their oldest son, Brent, 18, lives away at college, plays football, works part-time, and has a peanut allergy. Although he no longer lives at home, Julia still meal preps for him each week.

The household also includes Chico, their 2-year-old German Shepherd, and Junior, their 8-month-old orange kitten.

Family dinner remains important to the Woods. The food may need to be adjusted for allergies, preferences, or George’s safety needs, but the goal is still one household sharing meals together.

Family Meal Planners helps the Woods keep track of what they have, where it is stored, who it is for, and what needs to happen next.

Different people. Different needs. One household system.
